My Radio show Review-

REVIEW ROANOKE TIMES: MY RADIO and OLD CEREMONY SHOW  Sunday, November 04, 2007

"The show's hosts, My Radio, preceded Haskins' group with a blast of pop

rock that showed potential for wide success. The band's "Turn Up The

Radio" sounded like Elvis Costello mashed up with the Smithereens.

Singer J.P. Powell was a presence behind his electric piano, singing

strongly and benefiting from a great rhythm section - Brett Lemon on guitar,

and particularly drummer Hunter Johnson and bassist Jeff Hofmann - who

played with the steadiness and taste of big-shot studio veterans."....

Get Out: Los Gatos

Thursday, January 18, 2007

"Even within Latin music, we have people from different backgrounds," said Los Gatos' Hofmann. "Guys from Cuba, Chile, Puerto Rico ... it's amazing all these guys can get together in the Appalachian mountains and play this kind of music."

Producer Notes: When I saw the guys in Los Gatos bring in their gear to the studio, I've gotta say some sweat broke out on my forehead. I really had no idea how to capture the essence of the percussion, mixed with a stand-up bass and a trumpet that cut through the room, but somehow it worked out. These guys are extremely talented, and it was a real treat to be able to host them and add a little heat to the MusicCast....

"Arguably one could say they[Los Gatos] are the pioneers of latin music in our valley."

Jeff Hofmann adds, “I have been so fortunate to be able to perform and record with musicians of this caliber… I am astonished that these people coming together have met in the Appalachians to bring their culturally diverse backgrounds together to form such a band.”

And finally, here’s one for the moms. Einstein’s Monkey has a song called Mom Lost the Car (in the parking lot)
on their new album Banana Yellow
. It’s silly and obviously none of us can relate to this, right?I love the tongue-in-cheek sarcasm of the song, while [my son] Ivan loves the hard rock guitar!
